Following her ceramic education in Graz, Austria, Petra Lindenbauer graduated from the Vienna University in European History of Art and Classical Archaeology. In her ceramic work she reflects these studies in relation to the significance of ceramic objects in everyday life. The basic approach is her admiration of the functionality that can be inherent to ceramic items. The fact that we have been surrounding ourselves with ceramics for thousands of years as part of our everyday life or that we still choose ceramics for special occasions in our lifes is remarkable and fascinating to her. Especially modern Haute Cuisine requires an outstanding form of presentation of the dishes and an extraordinary experience at table. In this context she gets assigned with the task of creating collections for top class restaurants, e.g. the renowned restaurants Steirereck and Konstantin Filippou, both in the heart of Vienna, or the Design Hotel Wiesergut in Salzburg to name a few. She considers certain coordinates in terms of environment, architecture and ambiance in order to create items for specific situations and surroundings. Petra Lindenbauer works as a freelance artist for about 25 years. She cooperates with photographers, authors of cookery books as well as food stylists. She has participated in numerous international symposia, exhibitions and ceramics workshops.
